Team Spotlight: Ruth Kanyi

1. What is your role at AB Entheos, and how does your work make a difference?

I serve as a Research Assistant at AB Entheos, where I support research and project implementation. I also champion ResilientME!, helping communities understand risk management and strengthening resilience through engaging, practical learning.

2. What has been your most memorable moment or achievement at AB Entheos?

My memorable moment was traveling to Taita Taveta to conduct an impact study of the pilot Binnacle project. Meeting the beneficiaries and seeing firsthand the difference our solutions made gave me hope that, by keeping community members at the heart of our work, we can create meaningful change, even if small.

3. If you had to describe AB Entheos in three words, what would they be and why?

Nimble, impactful, and passionate because we are adaptable, keep communities at the heart of everything we do, and truly love the work we deliver.

4. If you could swap jobs with anyone at AB Entheos for a day, who would it be and what would you hope to learn?

I would swap jobs with our Executive Director, Anne. She has mastered the inclusive insurance space and developed deep expertise in this very niche field. I would like to learn how she applies her knowledge to guide others, build their capacity, and deliver impact so effectively.

5. Which is the best piece of career or life advice you have ever received?

To always keep an open mind to learning. Every stage and every person offers a chance to learn something new.

6. What’s something that brings you joy? A hobby, a hidden talent, and a fun fact about your life?

Spending time with my loved ones brings me the most joy, whether it’s sharing a meal or just being together. I’m more of an indoor person who enjoys relaxing with action movies and listening to music, but I also love being outdoors, whether hiking, going on road trips, or simply enjoying nature.

7. If you could have any superpower (or be something entirely different in another life), what would it be and why?

I would like to be a musician who sings and plays the piano, because music brings joy and comfort, and has a unique way of touching people’s hearts and uniting them.
