Cultivating resilience, harvesting prosperity!
We are a finance ecosystem enabler and growth catalyst for agricultural financial and agronomy services backed by climate data, on-field support and client indigenous knowledge. We use climate, vegetative, soil and field data to create a paradigm shift in the design of financial products and agronomy services for sustainable business decisions.
ResilienceAg! is a risk management tool that gives confidence to financial institutions to lend to farmers based on credible data that creates a risk profile for farmers based on GPS location, climate data, historical yield and on-field support. The ResilienceAg! model that will be developed will take the form of a credit scoring engine and will have a client facing component allowing farmers to gauge whether their rating is good enough to receive a credit facility.
ResilienceAg! Is currently being incubated by AB Entheos, an independent market driver seeking to increase the uptake of insurance in Africa.
The agricultural sector is key to Kenya’s economy contributing 33 % to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and another 27% indirectly through linkages with other sectors. Agriculture provides a livelihood to more than 80% of the Kenyan population and contributes to the production of nutritional, and diverse foods.
Although agriculture accounts for a significant portion of the Kenyan economy, farmers, majority of whom are smallholder farmers are among the least financed sector in Kenya. The current total lending to farmers in Kenya is 5% which can be attributed to lack of information on the farmers risk profiles which in turn deems them risky to banks and lending institutions.
